Who is that anyway? Innosilicon is a China-based semiconductor manufacturer known for producing cryptocurrency mining equipment.

In the world of cryptocurrencies, the company is best known for its LTC and BTC miners. Innosilicon was founded in 2006 and produces over 30 million chips per year.

Up to now, Innosilicon did not have the right graphics cards for gamers in its range. The “Fantasy” graphics cards now presented are therefore the manufacturer’s first gaming products.

However, the manufacturer’s big announcement seems self-confident and clearly shows that it is not just an “attempt” to gain a foothold in the gaming sector. Because Innosilicon had already announced that it would like to introduce more graphics cards in 2022 (via videocardz.com).

The new graphics card is said to be a bit faster than the PS4 Pro

How much performance does the new graphics card offer? The graphics card should bring a performance of 5 TeraFlops. That would be a bit faster than the PS4 Pro, which is said to offer 4.2 TeraFlops of power.

The GPU should also have a computing power of up to 160 Gpixel / s and is also equipped with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and VGA.

The graphics card should be equipped with a maximum of 16 GB GDDR6 (X) memory. However, since the graphics card only works with a 128-bit interface, this is likely to limit the bandwidth of the memory.

The decision to use GDDR6 (X) memory is particularly surprising, as Nvidia had previously had exclusive rights to the fastest video memory. Therefore, the fastest memory was not built into AMD graphics cards.

How fast should the graphics card be? You should definitely not expect too much. The manufacturer calls 4.2 TeraFlops performance, compared to the current generation that is considerably less. In comparison, the GeForce RTX 3060, Nvidia’s weakest graphics card, already delivers around 13 TeraFlops.

The graphics card from Innosilicon is more comparable with the older AMD generation RX 400 and RX 500. Because the Radeon RX 570 delivers up to 5.1 TeraFlops of computing power on paper. This should make the graphics card less exciting for gamers who are hoping for a sensible option for an upgrade.

Price and release of the new graphics card not yet known

How much should the graphics card cost? So far, no prices for the graphics card are known. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the prices will be below that of a GeForce RTX 3060, since it should also deliver significantly less performance on paper. But these are assumptions, as we have not yet known anything about the prices or the correct performance.

AMD and NVidia are not only facing competition in the graphics card market from China. Because Intel has also announced that they want to finally get started on the market with graphics cards. In the coming year 2022, we are likely to have some graphics cards that could be worthwhile – if the prices are right.
