Tell me: How important is a good character editor to you in MMORPGs?

In MMORPGs, players slip into the roles of heroes, adventurers or a character who simply wants to take on evil. Usually you can customize the appearance of this character to your liking. But not every character editor goes into great detail. We at MeinMMO want to know how important such an editor is to you.

What kind of character editors are there? One of the first pieces of content that every gamer experiences from an MMORPG is the character editor. However, it can be very different.

Black Desert, for example, offers pretty much everything your heart desires in its editor:

  • You can choose from a number of faces, hairstyles and body shapes
  • Almost all areas of the body have their own sliders in which you can adjust the size and shape
  • You can choose from over 256 different colors for hair and 40 for eyes
  • However, the proportions remain realistic here

On the other hand, there are games that only offer you very few setting options. New World is one of these. There are only selected prefabricated faces, hairstyles as well as colors for hair and eyes, there are only a few. There are no sliders at all to adjust the body shape.

The third type of character editor goes particularly “extreme”. Here you can adjust all sizes and shapes as you like, regardless of whether that is logical or not. A particular example here would be League of Maidens.

Oversized heads and other adjusted proportions are possible in League of Maidens.

However, some MMORPGs do not have an editor at all, such as the new Lineage 2M. Here only the choice of the class changes something in your appearance. However, all members of the same class have the same appearance, which is only customized by the armor they wear.
