5 upcoming gameplay changes in CoD Warzone that nobody expected

Finally there are more details about the new map “Caldera” and the Pacific update of Call of Duty: Warzone. There are 5 interesting changes to the gameplay, balance adjustments, but also some information about what will stay the same as before. MyMMO has the details.

What’s going on at Warzone? The free battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone is about to have its biggest update yet. On December 8th, the Pacific update comes with a new map, revamped graphics and almost 40 new weapons.

So far, details on gameplay adjustments have been missing to put together a complete picture of the revised Warzone after the update. Thanks to a new blog post (via callofduty.com) we already know a lot more and there were quite a few surprises that we present to you here.

5 unexpected gameplay changes

Let’s start with the innovations. The developers announce that this is only the “first wave” of innovative changes that will come into play with the start of the Pacific update. More are to follow later.

However, there have already been announcements that hardly anyone expected:

  • Gulag adjustment
  • Loadout Boxes
  • Water mechanics
  • Gas canisters
  • New orders

Gulag adjustment: The funky respawn mechanic stays in the game as expected. But if you win the duel, you will no longer come back into the match with a pistol. As in the popular “Iron Trails ’84”, you can keep your weapons and equipment from the Gulag in the normal game modes.

Loadout Boxes: Until the first free loadout appears shortly before the end of the first circle, you cannot buy a loadout on Caldera. Up to this point you have to be satisfied with the ground loot and you cannot get any perks like “ghost”.

Water mechanics: Swimming will not be possible on Caldera either. But you can then run in shallow water. This even affects perks and players with the “tracker” ability can no longer locate tracks from enemies in water as well.

If you duck down in knee-high water, you also get the bonuses of the perk “Cold Blood”. But lying down does not work in the water.

Also, fire-based equipment like “thermite” will cause smoke to rise when you throw it into the water.

In the “Lagoon” area there is shallow water that you can enter.

Gas canister: Gas canisters are also new and can be found all over the map. If you shoot the canisters, a gas area is created that has similar effects on enemies as the gas circle. The canisters can also be carried with two hands and ignited manually. They also attach to reconnaissance drones.

New orders: There’s an exciting new quest, but you can only find it once in the match – Big Game Prey. This bounty contract marks the player with the most kills in the match. Aggressive attackers with a good dose of courage get their money’s worth.

There is also a supply order that provides a loadout box that all teams can use, but which is only marked on the map for you. Then there is talk of a secret mission that spits out a lot of booty, but about which not everything has been revealed yet.

Also important: Not new, but just as unexpected, is the information that Caldera will offer aircraft. In the special mode “Vanguard Royale” you can deliver dogfights to the release and fire at enemies on the ground.

Warzone announces nerfs & buffs for “old” mechanics

The blog post announces some adjustments to the balancing and thus also reveals that certain mechanics will remain in the game that are not available in CoD: Vanguard. Until now, little was known about how much Warzone changes, for example in terms of perks or equipment.

So there is talk of a nerf of the heartbeat sensors. The item is very important in Warzone and apparently the technology remains in the game. With this alone, Warzone differs significantly from the multiplayer in Vanguard, which was actually proclaimed as a model for the new Warzone.

We’ll list the announced buffs and nerfs.

Nerfs with the Pacific update

  • Dead silence grows weaker
  • Special ammunition disappears completely
  • Nerf the stun grenades
  • Weakening of the heartbeat sensor
  • Two-handed weapons Sai and Kali sticks become weaker
  • Strikes with the rifle butt are weakened

Buffs with the Pacific update

  • Most primary grenades will do more damage
  • Increased the radius of action of the snapshot grants
  • Stim then gives a movement boost
  • Delusion grenades deal damage with rubber bullets
  • Gas masks are less disruptive to gameplay animations

  • [GEHEIME] Arms deliveries with meta setups
  • Refilling of empty supply boxes
  • Chests of money with tons of cash
