Zelda BotW: The annoying quests with the blue flames can be so easy

Anyone who played Zelda Breath of the Wild can most likely still remember the two quests in which we have to transport blue flames from A to B. Unfortunately, it almost always starts to rain or opponents get in our way. With a bow and enough skill, ability or practice, the problem can also be solved in a completely different, very impressive way.

Zelda BotW fan creates an unbelievable trick shot where others struggle forever

This is what it’s about: In Zelda Breath of the Wild there is a quest in both Hateno and Akkala where we have to transport a blue flame to the fireplace of a laboratory. Usually that means picking up a torch and gradually working our way from one lantern to the next. Those who are particularly smart may think of using a horse to speed up the process. But there is also a much more direct route, with a bow and arrow.

Instead of choosing the long and arduous way with the torch, Redditor freetable had a “big brain moment”, so to speak, a little enlightenment: what works in the shrines with normal fire and arrows, obviously also works with blue flames. You can light an arrow with it and try to hit lanterns further away. Freetable even manages to shorten almost the entire route, as this video shows:

Community celebrates the trick shot: As always, the reactions were mixed, but above all impressed. Many fans say they never thought of it, while others complain about the inappropriateness of rain or say they did the same thing. Perhaps the most amusing story about it tells Redditor iamonlyoneman about a “boy” who could not find the source of the flame and who has covered the entire way from Akkala to Hateno as the keeper of the blue flame.

About Akkala: There is no such direct path as in the video above with the other version of the quest in Akkala. But it can also be shortened significantly if you have the necessary bow skills (or enough arrows for many attempts). It could look like this, for example:

What kind of bow is that? The arch Link uses here is the Isshin Arch. This is a traditional shekah bow and in the description text of the menu it says: “If you let your heart become one with the tendon and stretch it, even distant destinations appear as if they were very close.” The Isshin Arch offers a kind of zoom, for example you can find it at Lake Hylia or in West Necluda. The bow in the first video is part of the Phatom Ganon armor from the EX side quest Armor of Evil.

Videos like this show very nicely how openly and freely most of the quests in Zelda Breath of the Wild are designed. There is not just one “right” way of doing a task, but many and all of them are intended. The same applies to this ingenious trick shot, with which another fan mastered an actually much easier challenge.

How do you like the shots? Is that how you solved the quests?
