Amazon is canceling a popular class for the launch of the MMORPG Lost Ark

The MMORPG Lost Ark will be released in Europe and North America without the “Summoner” class: Although players in Europe and North America were able to play the Summoner in beta and the class was popular, it will not be playable at the time of release. The class is replaced by the “Sorceress”.

What about classes in Lost Ark? It’s a bit complicated:

  • In the current Korean version of Lost Ark there are 6 different basic classes and 22 “advanced classes” – these are the classes that you “really play”. For example there are 4 different variants of the warrior.
  • This also has to do with the “gender lock”: While in Europe, for example, there is a “warrior” who can be played as a woman and a man without changing the gameplay, MMORPG developers in South Korea would be two different Create classes that are similar but slightly different in gameplay
  • For the release in Europe and North America, Lost Ark will start with 15 of the 22 classes. The 15 classes are not evenly distributed over the 6 main classes: There are about 4 different variants of the martial artist, but only 2 magicians and no “specialist” at all. The selection of the classes has now been changed.

Who will be kicked out? As Lost Ark announced on December 2nd, the class “Summoner” will be removed from the release in 2022 (via lostark). The class is supposed to come later.

We described the “Summoner” on MeinMMO as one of our recommendations for getting started with Lost Ark. The summoner can summon creatures and use them to perform various powerful attacks.

The class does a lot of damage, but doesn’t take much. However, it is not a classic pet class as in other players, because the summons do not fight by their side, but disappear again after their attack.

Why does her loss hurt? In a survey of the most popular classes in the beta, “Summoner” was the most popular class on MeinMMO with 10.4% and it was also ahead of the GameStar community.

Who will it be replaced by? Amazon brings the “Sorceress” into play for the release. The sorceress is a classic magician who relies on area magic.

Why is Amazon doing this? Amazon says they changed the starting lineup so that they “have something for every taste.” The Sorceress is the newest class in Lost Ark. It didn’t come into the Korean version of the game until August 2021, and we’re very happy to be able to share it with our players.

How is this discussed?? People on Twitter are just confused. Because they see no reason to remove a class just because you bring in another. Especially players who fell in love with the summoner during the beta cannot understand Amazon’s decision.

If the people on Twitter have their way, Amazon could have just increased it to 16. That just feels forced.

It is believed that the summoner was initially put on hold so that Amazon still has time to change some glitches or problems.

A release date for Lost Ark is unfortunately still not known.
