With our daily updated PS5 ticker on MeinMMO, however, we offer you a way to find a PS5 console.

Should you consider buying a PS5, then you have to choose one of the two models. We at MeinMMO explain to you what you should consider when buying a PS5.

PS5 vs PS5 Digital Edition – The consoles in detail

What are the differences? The biggest difference between the two models is actually the drive, because the Digital Edition does not have a BluRay drive.

Otherwise, the PS5 looks a bit bulkier and larger compared to the Digital Edition, which also affects the dimensions and weight. Because the normal PS5 is about half a kilogram heavier than the PS5 Digital Edition.

Both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition have 650 GB available for games. Big games like Call of Duty, FIFA or Destiny 2 take up a good part of the space.

You can now expand the internal storage of the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition with an SSD. Sony has now activated the option. There are also recommended SSDs for the PS5 to buy.

Does the normal PS5 offer more power? No, both consoles offer you the same hardware and therefore the same performance. With the PS5 Digital Edition you don’t have to forego either performance or graphical features.

The performance is also the biggest difference to the competition: Because the Xbox Series S not only has no drive compared to the Xbox Series X, but also offers less performance than the Series X. The most important features of the Series S are presented in the following article :

PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition: The biggest difference is the drive

Why does the drive matter? The PS5 offers you extensive backward compatibility. This means that you can insert your PS4 games that you own on disc into your PS5 and install them on your PS5. This does not work with the PS5 Digital Edition.

In addition, if you opt for the digital version of the PS5, you will inevitably have to purchase your games via the PS Store. Here the games cost a little more on average than, for example, used or through various retailers.

Another point should be clear to you that you can only rely on the download with the PS5 Digital Edition. If you live in the deepest prairie without a decent internet connection, then you shouldn’t have much fun with the digital version.

PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition – which console should I choose?

Who should go for the PS5 Digital Edition? Basically, the PS5 Digital Edition with a recommended retail price of 399 euros is exactly 100 euros cheaper than the PS5 with a drive.

If it’s all about performance, then it doesn’t matter which console you choose. Because you get the same performance and the same feature package with both consoles.

If you own all of your games digitally, you can save yourself the extra charge, as the normal PS5 model does not otherwise offer you any advantage over the digital edition.

Who should go for the normal PS5? If you have an extensive library of games on disc or use your console for your movie evenings, then you should use the PS5 with a drive. Because on the PS5 Digital Edition you can only play digital games and not use your old discs or watch films that you have in your closet.

If you are a bargain hunter or if you like to buy used games, then the digital edition should not be an option for you either, as you can only play games on the digital edition that you have bought digitally.
