With the Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung has presented a high-end monitor for gamers. In the meantime, testers have been able to try it out and are enthusiastic. The biggest disadvantage is the high price of more than 2,000 euros.

This is what it’s about: With the Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung has introduced a huge 49-inch gaming monitor. This is the manufacturer’s new top model for the gaming sector and with a recommended price of 2,199 euros you are quite confident.

Super ultrawide gaming is wonderful, but strange. Playing on the Odyssey G9 and Neo G9 is incredibly immersive, but it’s also literally skewed in ways that I don’t always find comfortable because the game developers never built multiprojection into their games.

For whom is a gaming monitor worth 2,200 euros?

Who is the monitor aimed at? It should be clear to those interested that you need the appropriate hardware to actually operate this monitor.

In order to achieve the 240Hz at full resolution, you need at least an RTX 2080 or an RTX 3080. An RTX 3090 is even better if you want to achieve the 240 Hz at least to some extent. The monitor is therefore primarily aimed at enthusiasts.

For whom is it worth it? The gaming monitor is primarily aimed at enthusiasts who do not just want to buy a simple screen. The prerequisite here is not only the money, but also correspondingly powerful hardware so that you can take full advantage of the monitor.

If you don’t want to compromise on image quality and features, the Odyssey Neo G9 is an excellent monitor. With Mini-LED and HDR 2000 you get the latest technology and with VRR and HDMI 2.1 there are also functions that you can use with your PS5 or Xbox Series X.

For whom is it not worth it? 2,200 euros is a lot of money for a monitor and you also need powerful hardware so that you can use the monitor at all. If you still gamble on older hardware, the monitor is only partially worthwhile for gaming.
