Ludwig has already been banned 3 times on YouTube, but it still celebrates more than Twitch

For streamer Ludwig, saying goodbye to Twitch was not easy and arriving at YouTube was certainly not easier: Nevertheless, he now declares that he celebrates YouTube more than Twitch despite severe initial difficulties.

This is why YouTube is better: The former Twitch star Ludwig has been part of Team Rot aka YouTube Gaming since the end of November. He survived the wave of bans, consisting of three short closures, and found his own fix for it. Now he’s doing better on YouTube than on Twitch, says Ludwig.

  • More viewers
  • Lots of new subscribers
  • Better statistics on videos

YouTube is better in almost all respects, but the better chat is annoying

On December 11th, Ludwig uploaded a video to the subsidiary channel Mogul Mail. In which he talks about his early days on YouTube. The first two weeks were mainly characterized by the temporary bans, which he was able to bypass successfully.

Apart from that, he and his channel are doing better than ever. He shows this with his social blade statistics, which are not entirely correct, but come close to reality (via socialblade.com). The streamer also tells his fans how he felt after switching from Twitch to YouTube:

After the subathon, I think everyone knew my numbers on Twitch were going down. They are bobbed with around 18 to 20,000 spectators. (…) The first week on YouTube, on the other hand, was crazy! All of my streams got around 30,000 viewers.

Ludwig also proudly shows that his views and subscriptions on YouTube have exploded since he switched platforms. One feature he particularly celebrates is the video suggestion at the end of each stream. According to him, his latest videos now get around 30,000 more views in the first few minutes after they have been uploaded.

Statistics before and after the switch

  • Growth before: 10,000 new subscriptions per week
  • Growth after: 140,000 subscriptions per week
  • Views before: 6,500,000 per week
  • Views after: 14,100,000 per week

What annoys Ludwig about YouTube? Even if Ludwig thinks YouTube is better in almost all respects, two features bother him a lot. On the one hand, it is difficult to create React content, since YouTube’s content ID system always immediately switches off its stream. The Content ID algorithm searches for videos that other users have uploaded and blocks copies. Ludwig got this problem under control himself.

The other unnerving feature is YouTube’s chat. It annoys Ludwig because it simply works too well. In his video, he explains that the chat is as fluid as a waterfall, while the Twitch chat is like a clogged tap.

If many users write on Twitch at the same time, the chat begins to lag. According to Ludwig, this has the advantage that streamers can also pick out messages in a full chat. This is not possible on YouTube due to the good optimization; the messages fly through the stream chat too quickly.

Ludwig concludes by saying that he wants YouTube to have a slow chat. But maybe the streamer will take care of it himself in the future. He has already done this with some other Twitch features (via youtube.com).
