New World: Guide to the Winter Convergence Festival

The Winter Convergence event kicks off in New World on December 14th. This brings new events and quests, as well as a number of rewards that you can exchange at a special dealer. We at MeinMMO tell you everything you need to know about the event in this guide.

What kind of event is that? The winter event will take place from December 14th until January 11th. It will be released together with the new update 1.2. The highlights of the event are:

  • Snow-covered cities and landscapes, as well as aurora borealis in the sky
  • The new winter villages, in which you will find a total of 7 new quests for levels 15 to 60
  • New city projects
  • 12 new points of interest in which you can fight against yetis
  • Winter tokens to collect, which you can exchange for special rewards at merchants
  • Gifts that you can find and collect

Is the event worth it? Yes, because you can unlock some useful equipment, decorations for your house and a new emote.

You will also receive Diamond Plaster during the event, which you can use to increase your competence in the new system.

Where does the information come from? MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch spent a few hours on the PTR server playing the event and writing this guide. However, it is possible that little things will change in the final release. We will update the guide accordingly after the start of the event.

Winter villages bring new quests and a new event dealer

How do you climb preferably into the winter event? At the beginning you should visit one of the winter villages. These are located in the areas of Königsfels, Immerfall, Lichtholz and Webermoor.

They are close to a fast travel point and are also marked on the map. Nevertheless, we have marked the exact locations here on the map with a red circle:

New World Winterdorf Map
The 4 winter villages marked on the map.

In these villages you will meet the winter hiker, a huge yeti. This gives you the first quest in a series of a total of 7 tasks:

  • You can start the first quest “Winter Convergence” at level 15
  • Quests 2, 3 and 4 can still be completed at level 15
  • Quests 5 and 6 require level 25
  • The final quest in the series requires a level 60 character

The quests are kept relatively simple and basically explain the event. So you have to visit dealers and townboards, find gifts or mine glitterite.

The rewards for the quests are experience points, coins, reputation in the area and Azoth. There are also two special event rewards:

  • Event Reputation – the reputation of the Winter Event
  • Winter tokens – the currency that can be exchanged at the Ruf dealer
New World lost gifts
You can easily find gifts in the open world. They contain 5 Renown and 1 Salvaged Gift.

How can you still get winter brands? Winter brands are available through various activities:

  • Completion of the 7 winter event quests.
  • Interaction with the “Trees of Light” in all major settlements.
  • Forging 3 recovered gifts into a winter stamp. You can collect gifts in the open world.
  • Forging 10 glitterite crystals into a winter token. The crystals appear in Aeternum at night. You see a crack in the sky at the appropriate places, from which glitterite rains down.

You open the crafting interface via the wagons in the winter villages. The first event quest in the game explains exactly how this works.

In the same crafting interface you can create a high-quality winter brand from 25 winter brands. This is also required for rewards at the event dealer.

What rewards are there at the event dealer? The Yeti who gives you the quests is also the event dealer. As with the faction traders, there are a total of 5 reputation levels that you can earn.

At level 1 (0 reputation) you can buy buff food, which increases your chance of getting glitterite crystals. That costs you 2 winter stamps each.

Rewards at the rank 1 merchant.

At level 2 (1,000 reputation) there is special holiday equipment with its own skin and armor value 295. There is also a snow-covered chair and a snow-covered shelf for housing. For this, however, you have to use high-quality winter brands to buy.

Level 3 (3,000 reputation) brings equipment with armor value 380, as well as a snow-covered bedside table, a snow-covered lantern and a snow-covered rabbit sculpture.

Level 4 (6,000 reputation) brings equipment with armor value 460 and the new housing items snow-covered dining table, snow-covered chandelier and snow-covered wild boar sculpture.

The last level 5 (10,000 reputation) brings the emote “give a present”, the cosmetic handling of the winter hiker, a festive “toy” rabbit and equipment with the armor value 520.

The highlight here are special schemes with which you can use the appearance of the equipment in crafting. So you can theoretically produce weapons and armor in winter optics that still have an armor value of 600.

Earning Event Reputation – Here’s How It Works

How do you get a call for the Winter Festival? Through the quest series you earn enough reputation to reach about level 2.5 with the trader. Then you get the quest to grind at level 3. But if you want to achieve that, you have to grind reputation. This can be done using the following methods:

  • Complete the special city quests introduced with Wintersday. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to test these quests on the PTR.
  • Finding gifts in the open world – 5 reputation each.
  • Interact with the “Trees of Light” that stand in the cities of the game. These cities include all areas in which factions can control the territory. You can visit each tree once a day and each of them brings 150 prestige.

So if you want to really take advantage of the event, you have to visit all 11 settlements in the game every day, which goes well in the Azoth. Houses in the right places can help.

New World gift tree
Such a gift tree can be found in all settlements. He brings you presents and at level 60 also diamond plaster.

12 neue Points of Interest

What about the points of interest? There are new caves in different areas of New World where Yetis live. A total of 12 of these points of interest were brought into play, including in the areas of Königsfels, Immerfall, Edenhain, Tief Schlucht and Bruchberg.

At the end of each cave there is a boss waiting with a chest from which you can get good loot.

New World Winterevent PoI
Ice creatures and yetis await you as enemies in the caves.

Improve competence through the winter event

What do endgame players get from the event? Those who are currently working on the level of their competence can also benefit from the event. The first 3 interactions with a Tree of Light bring characters to level 60 Diamond Plaster.

You can create a plaster ball from 3 diamond plasters. This works with a plaster furnace that you can find in various, but not all, cities.

You can use the plaster ball to make a plaster cast for a weapon or piece of equipment. That only costs thalers. You can then use the imprint to increase your competence by 1 to 3 on the respective object.
