No corona vaccination: handball ace Knorr threatens to end the EM

Before the game, the THW Kiel had announced the extension of Steffen Weinhold’s contract until June 30, 2023, after which the handball record champions defeated the Rhein-Neckar Löwen with 32:29. The subject on the sidelines of the game was different: national player Juri Knorr and his vaccination status. According to NDR, the Schwartau national player, who has been playing for the Lions since the summer, is threatened with the end of the EM in Slovakia and Hungary (from January 13th).

Knorr’s recovered status no longer applies

The background: Knorr was fell ill with Corona in November 2020, right after his debut in the national team. The 21-year-old, who was playing for Minden at the time, was in quarantine in his grandparents’ holiday apartment in Timmendorfer Strand: “Sweats, chills, fever, coughs, headaches – the full program. I couldn’t sleep at night either, everything was sweaty. I was surprised that it hit me so hard, ”Knorr told the LN. After more than three weeks and various tests, he returned recovered and was also present at the World Cup. And he warned: “I felt that you had to take this seriously, very seriously.”

In Kiel not with the team hotel of the lions

Only: Knorr did not get vaccinated afterwards. According to NDR information, he is of the opinion that he still has enough antibodies in his blood. Since 2G plus applies to the EM in January, Knorr would not be there in Bratislava. The “recovered status” is only defined up to a maximum of six months after infection. That is why, according to “Mannheimer Morgen”, he was not allowed to go to the team hotel before the Kiel game – 2G also applied there. Knorr stayed with his parents in Bad Schwartau. He does not want to comment on his situation at the moment.
