Splinter Cell: remake of the stealth classic announced

It’s not April first, that’s no joke, Ubisoft is finally bringing Sam Fisher back to the big stage. As in an official one Article on Ubisoft.com To read, we get a full remake of Tom Clany’s Splinter Cell, the stealth classic from 2002.

Is there already a release? Unfortunately, we are still a long way from the game’s release. It is only confirmed that Ubisoft has approved the project and that the development is still in a very early phase.

All information about the Splinter Cell remake

According to Mikel Reparaz of Ubisoft.com, the remake will be developed by the Toronto office using the Snowdrop engine, which is already in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Ubisofts’ new Star Wars game is used.

(the engine is used) to deliver current-gen optics and gameplay, as well as the well-known light and shadow effects, known for the Splinter Cell.

Remake oder Remaster? According to developer Matt West, it is a remake because the game is being developed from scratch, but remains true to the linear original, for example there is no open world.

Although fans from the very beginning should feel at home straight away, convenience functions should be added for a new generation of players. We’ll have to wait a while for this information to find out exactly what these are and what exactly changes compared to the original.

Rumors about an open world splinter cell were broken

We already reported at the end of last week that a new Splinter Cell should come. The rumor came from the pen of industry insider Tom Henderson. The big difference: Henderson spoke in his Tweet of an open world and a “version of Assassin’s Creed that relies more on stealth”. The game world should also resemble Halo Infinite’s open hub approach. This message should be obsolete with the announcement of a linear remake.

Splinter Cell gets a new edition. Are you looking forward to playing the stealth classic again or for the first time?
