Lübeck Cougars start the 2022 season with a derby against Hamburg Huskies

There are still five months left before the 2022 football season begins. But the association has already published the framework program – and for second division Lübeck Cougars the coming season begins on May 21 or 22 with a home derby against the Hamburg Huskies at the Buniamshof.

Lübeck’s footballers are looking forward to derbies at the start of the season

“It’s nice to start with a derby in front of your own fans. And the first away game in Rostock could take place in the Ostseestadion. That would of course be a great number again. It’s just as good that there are ten games this season and that we have a five-week summer break. We really can’t fault the game plan, ”explains coach Mark Holtze.

First division Berlin Rebels possible test opponent of the Cougars

Before the first competitive game, the mountain lions are planning at least one test and are already holding talks with possible opponents. A hot candidate is the first division club Berlin Rebels, against whom the Lübeck team have tested many times in recent years. There could also be a joint training session with the Baltic Hurricanes from Kiel.

First of all, for the Cougars, it’s about completing their roster. One or two coaches should strengthen the coaching staff – and after the engagement of US running back Ashton Heard, the search for a quarterback and support for the defense is intense.
