Timmendorf with the regional league leader without a chance

“That was very impressive. Braunlage was superior to us in all respects ”, admitted CET trainer Michael Pohl after the 1:10 defeat of his Timmendorfer at front runners Harzer Falken from Braunlage in the last game of the year in the ice hockey regional league.

“Braunlage is the measure of all things. Of course such a defeat hurts, the guys have to digest that first. But we knew that one day we would experience such a tough moment, ”says Pohl. “This game clearly showed that our team has too little experience at this level.”

Timmendorf with a positive half-time balance

But despite the bitter setback at the end of the year, the Beach Devils trainer’s mid-term balance is positive. “Before the season started, I honestly didn’t think that we could play for a top four place. I have to pay a huge compliment to the team. They accept all the things that we discuss in training, play with an incredible amount of heart and never give up, ”said Pohl.

Beach Devils want to play in the championship round of the regional ice hockey league

The hopes for the Baltic Sea have grown accordingly. “We want to fight for a place in the championship round. And the first half of the season has shown that this is not impossible. We have to go to the limit in every game, but if we can do that, we can annoy any team in the league, ”says the CET coach. “And if it is not enough in the end, that is not the end of the world.”

The Ostholsteiner will continue on January 2nd

The start of the new year will be crucial. “In January we have three weekends with two games each. That will show where the journey is headed, ”says Pohl. That’s why the Ostholsteiners continue without a break, but the coach wants to “reduce the intensity a bit, increase the fun factor – and maybe even have a pizza delivered to the cabin” – to prepare for the next game against them until after Christmas Jade Sharks from Sands (January 2nd, 7pm / ETC) begins …
