Blizzard has a whole bunch of new information too Diablo 4 published that give us interesting insights into the game’s systems. Since the Blog entry is extremely long, we want to summarize everything important for you at this point.

Diablo 4 is currently in development for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The action RPG was launched in November postponed indefinitely.

This is how Diablo 4 wants to keep you going

Even more than its predecessor, Diablo 4 is designed so that we play it as long as possible, and Blizzard is now also telling us how they want to do it. We will keep improving our characters and equipping them with ever better loot. After the first 50 levels, the so-called Paragon system is used.

This is how the new Paragon system works: Anyone who regularly plays role-playing games is probably already familiar with a skill tree. In Diablo 4 these will take the form of “game boards” on which you can gradually unlock fields – each class has its own board. The fields can be one of four forms:

  • Normal: Most of the fields fall into this category. They give a small bonus to a character’s stat.
  • Magic: These fields always come in groups. The effects are more different than with normal fields (for example, they give you resistance to elements).
  • Rarely: This is where things get interesting. The rare fields not only offer great bonuses, they also refer to special traits and skills. Which rare field is worthwhile for you depends on your respective build. Some bonuses of the fields even require certain stats of the character.
  • Legendary: Each board has a legendary field in the middle, which gives you a new legendary ability.

Glyphen: In addition to the fields, there are also sockets that you can fill with so-called glyphs. You can find these in particularly difficult dungeons and you can even level them up to increase their effects. A glyph affects fields that are nearby – the radius varies depending on the rarity. For example, there is a bonus to the effects of all adjacent spaces on the board.

Infinite skill trees: When you get to one of the “exits”, you unlock another board, which in turn is equipped with a number of fields and pedestals. This way we can level the characters to infinity.

More new details on Diablo 4

Each class has different kill animations: In Diablo 4, classes not only have different attacks, but also kill enemies differently. The various death animations of the monsters this time are not limited to freezing or burning – you can also cut them into slices and spread their intestines over the floor, depending on which character class you hit them with.

Monsters drop certain items: So far, opponents in the Diablo series had random loot with them, which you can bag after they die. That system will change a little with Diablo 4. Certain types of monsters are more likely to carry specific types of items. This is helpful when you are looking for a specific piece of equipment.

What else we know about Diablo 4:

Legendary properties can be transferred: If you find a legendary weapon that doesn’t fit your class or that you just don’t like, you can still use its legendary power. For this you have to visit a new NPC in the game, the occultist. This draws the essence out of the weapon for you, but it is destroyed in the process. Now you can combine the essence with certain other items. Please note, however, that the level requirement remains.
