FIFA 22 makes the Weekend League qualification much easier – players are thrilled

If you want to enter the Weekend League of FIFA 22, you have to overcome a few hurdles. It wasn’t that easy in the end. But now the requirements are being lowered.

So what it was so far: If you wanted to take part in the “FUT Champions Finals”, you first had to collect 2,000 Champs points in the “Division Rivals” mode. Depending on which division you are in, you get more points per victory.

That means: In the lower divisions you need a hell of a lot of games to reach 2,000.

If you have the points together, you can take part in the “FUT Champions Play-Offs”. You can play it whenever you want. The task here was to get 24 points from 9 games in order to qualify for the finals – the Weekend League.

A win is worth 4 points and a loss is worth one point. As a result, it took at least 5 wins out of 9 games (plus four losses) to qualify for the finals.

This process had been criticized by some players as too hard, especially when it was even harder in Season 2 than in Season 1. The play-offs in particular often resulted in narrowly missed qualifications and thus in frustration. Now EA is adjusting the qualification.

From season 3, fewer victories are required for the WL qualification

This is the change: From the start of Season 3 in FIFA 22, which begins on Thursday, December 23 at 9:00 a.m., new standards will apply. EA announced this via the FIFA Direct Communication channel (via Twitter).

From this point on you only need 1,250 Champions Points to qualify for the play-offs. This should mean that noticeably fewer Rivals games should be needed to get into the play-offs.

And the play-offs are also being shot. Instead of having to get 24 points from 9 games, the following applies from Thursday: You only need 20 points and have 10 matches to achieve that.

This means that from Thursday morning 4 wins and 4 losses would be enough to qualify for the Weekend League.

In addition to the point changes, both play-offs and finals will receive additional ranks and other reward distributions.

This is what the community says: If you look in the FIFA subreddit you will find many players who are happy about the point changes.

  • “A great change for people who have previously struggled to qualify. You can go 4-6 now and get through which is pretty easy. This also means that more casuals take part in the WL, and that is a win for everyone, ”says user“ justletmecreateanick ”(via reddit).
  • “I always get 4 wins out of 9, so 4 out of 10 should be a piece of cake,” says user “mojomonkey” (via reddit).
  • “Since the game was released, I’ve always said that there is no way this system will make it to the TOTY. You can’t exclude casual gamers from the only good rewards in the game and expect them to continue playing and buying packs, ”user michaelt223 had already anticipated a change (via reddit).

For many, it should now be more realistic to be able to participate in the Weekend League if it failed to just about one or two victories. In addition, there is the time saved to get into the play-offs at all.

What do you think of the changes? Do you think it makes sense or did it fit you in advance? Tell us in the comments!
