Nvidia and an artist have presented a huge map for the Minecraft game. The aim is to collect money for a children’s hospital. You can download the map for free.

Minecraft is still one of the most popular games when it comes to creating your own creations. Minecraft had only recently made history as it was the first game on YouTube with more than 1 trillion YouTube views.

Now Nvidia and an artist for Minecraft have presented a huge map for Minecraft. The new Christmas world offers plenty of opportunities to show you just how amazing ray tracing can be in a game.

What kind of technology is that? A year ago, Nvidia introduced ray tracing for Minecraft. This means that modern technology is used in Minecraft, which makes the world appear more detailed and realistic. You can see the improvement clearly, especially with water reflections or shadows. If you want to use ray tracing in Minecraft, you need at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or better.

The well-known Minecraft artist Ushio Tokura has presented a huge winter map for Minecraft together with Nvidia. Tokura is said to have taken around 300 hours to produce the entire card.

Who is this? Ushio Tokura is a member of the “Cyclone Designs” studio. This is where textures and skins for Minecraft are developed, which are then sold. Tokura has been playing Minecraft since 2011 and is one of the game’s most famous artists.

What does the world look like The world is made up of three giant snow globes, each of which contains its own unique environment – one a winter wonderland, one a Santa Claus village, and the third a winter landscape.

The world includes interactive elements like roller coasters, a lake for ice skating and a petting zoo, as well as a handful of playable storylines and quests.

Where can I download the map? You can download the map directly from the Planetminecraft website and try it out (via planetminecraft.com).

So you install the map in Minecraft:

• First you have to download the map and save it in any location.
• Under Windows you use the key combination Windows + R and then enter “% appdata% /. Minecraft / saves /” (without quotation marks) in the command line. This command opens the saves folder and the data is always in the same location with Windows.
• If you play on Macintosh, you can find your save files in: ~ / Library / Application Support / minecraft / saves /.
• Drag your downloaded map (after unpacking or unpacking) into the zip / rar folder ‘Map’ in the saves folder.
• Close the save window and start Minecraft. Then you can choose the map and start.

Where can you find the fundraiser? The project aims to raise funds for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). On the map you will find the hospital completely rebuilt. If you visit the hospital in-game, you can donate to the “Home for Christmas” campaign using a QR code. This should help seriously ill children to be able to return home at some point.
