In Spider-Man: No Way Home there are Easter eggs from the video games.

Spider-Man is currently booming again. This is not least due to Spider-Man: No Way Home. The new movie with Tom Holland as the eponymous superhero breaks records and triggers violent emotions among many fans. Small Easter eggs in the film are also a love letter to the video game series for PS4 and PS5 (via Comicbook).

Spider-Man spoiler warnings apply to the following sections: No Way Home and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Important storylines are taken up and put into context.

Emotional scene includes phrase from the PS4 game

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, a lot of bad guys come back from the previous Spider-Man films, starring Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield. Including the Green Goblin from the first film, played by Willem Dafoe again. In a key scene, Spider-Man and Green Goblin fight each other. As a result of the fight, Aunt May is injured, who then dies.

During this scene she also tells the young Peter Parker the phrase “With great strength comes great responsibility”. A guiding theme that many Spider-Man fans should know. The Easter egg can ultimately be seen on her gravestone. There it is written: “When you help someone, You help everyone” (If you help one, you help everyone).

Marvel’s Spider-Man fans will likely feel very much like the PS4 game here. Because in the end Aunt May dies there too, because she leads Peter to save everyone and not just his aunt. At her funeral we see exactly the same sentence on May’s tombstone. So the makers of the film seem to have orientated themselves a little on the game, but it also fits the role that Aunt May takes in both the game and the film.

But that’s not the only reference to the PS4 game in the movie.

Police scanner: In one scene, Peter Parker gets ready to swing through New York as Spider-Man. Before that, however, he listens to what is going on over the police radio. In the game we also hear radio messages again and again and can then decide whether we want to stop one of the criminal activities that is happening in the city.

Even if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already in development, the game is a little longer in coming. Until then, you can sweeten the waiting time on your PS5 with next year’s releases.
