The Christmas event is currently taking place for the trainers in Pokémon GO. But a typical Christmas Pokémon is missing: Rossana. It is one of the most interesting monsters that there is a lot to report about. We have summarized 4 cool facts for you.

What kind of Pokémon is Rossana? Rossana is a Pokémon of the Ice and Psycho type from the first generation of games. It is the only further development of Kussilla and can only be found in the female form.

Rossana and Christmas

Even if the Christmas event in Pokémon GO is currently running without Rossana, the Ice and Psycho Pokémon have a lot in common with this annual celebration. First and foremost, it is already evident from their living space that they prefer it to be cool. That would actually fit perfectly into the season of origin. It lives mainly in ice caves.

But that’s not the only connection the Ice and Psycho-Pokémon have for Christmas. In the anime it works for none other than Santa Claus. In the episode “Rossana Odyssey” it celebrates its debut in the series.

Santa Claus at the North Pole is supported by numerous Rossana. However, one of these Pokémon is driven off with an ice floe while cleaning Santa Claus’ boots and encounters Ash and his friends.

And Team Rocket is up to mischief in this episode and tries to catch the Rossana. The reason for this is an experience from Jessie’s childhood. According to this, Jessie is convinced that Rossana is Santa Claus and that she used to steal her favorite doll. Rossana had only wanted to bring it to Santa Claus for repairs.

Maybe she’ll help him this year too, so she won’t be able to attend the Christmas market event in Pokémon GO.

The appearance of Rossana

Anyone who has seen the episode “Rossana’s Odyssey” will have noticed that the monster now looks a little different. The reason for this was a complaint from the African-American author Carole Boston Weatherford.

In the first few episodes of the anime, Rossana has black skin, big lips and blonde hair. The author saw a connection to the racist stereotype of a dark-skinned woman, which is why she published an article called “Politically Incorrect Pokémon” (via greensboro.com).

As a result, Rossana’s appearance was subsequently changed from black to purple. In the US, scenes with Rossana’s original appearance have also been removed. The Twitter user TheCapnStache shows a comparison of the design in a post:

Communication and scream from Rossana

Another special feature that sets Rossana apart from other monsters is communication. Mainly the rhythmic movement is noticeable in Rossana, but her language also follows a certain rhythm. In doing so, however, she speaks a language incomprehensible to the viewer, which is nevertheless reminiscent of human language.

And her scream is also something very special. So their call sounds a full 2.238 seconds, which makes it the longest in the Pokémon world (via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net).

A surprise in battle

But you should definitely not underestimate Rossana. At first glance it is more reminiscent of a lovable lady, but the Pokémon has a lot to offer: It can convince with its high attack value and offers a really strong moveset with ice breather and avalanche. This makes it one of the best ice attackers in Pokémon GO.

In the GO battle league, however, you’d better bet on other monsters, because Rossana isn’t able to convince there (via pvpoke.com).
