This is what it’s about: In the picturesque 2D adventure you slip into the role of the rebellious teenage girl Alex, who wants to celebrate with her stepbrother Jonas and other friends on a desert island. Of course, the party trip doesn’t go as planned. The group accidentally opens a rift in the spirit world and is now faced with the task of unraveling the mystery surrounding the mysterious island.

The special thing about Oxenfree are undoubtedly the authentically written and completely set to music dialogues. As we explore the island, we keep chatting with Alex’s friends, building relationships with them and getting to know them better. Our answer options are usually only displayed for a few moments. So we can meet them either sarcastically, friendly or just snotty, and if we don’t click on one of them quickly enough, Alex says nothing.

By the way, Oxenfree does not have complicated fights or overly tricky puzzles ready. The focus here is on the characters and their relationships with one another, woven into an exciting mystery ghost story.
