Fans are angry about the new skin in CoD Vanguard: “This is copy / paste for 15 €”

For the holidays of 2021, Call of Duty: Vanguard has got some new skins in the shop. These are available in a bundle for premium currency – i.e. for real money. However, a skin is supposed to be a brazen copy of a weapon that was already available for free in an earlier CoD 4 years ago. At least some players criticize that.

What kind of skin is that? The “Secret Santa” bundle is currently in the CoD Vanguard shop and costs 1,500 CoD Coins there. That is roughly € 15. The bundle includes:

  • 2 weapon skins: Dasher and Blitzen
  • 2 emblems: Fragile and shake that off!
  • Talisman “Wrap it up!”, A Christmas goose
  • Full plug “hang up lights”
  • Highlight intro “Don’t cheat!”

The Dasher skin is causing displeasure among fans. This is a blueprint for the combat shotgun, one of the most powerful weapons currently in CoD Vanguard. However, the setup itself is not the problem.

There have already been allegations in the past that some construction plans were “Pay2Win”. In this case, however, appearance is a problem. The skin is made up of the wooden handle parts, a branded soldier and the inscription “Trench Runner”.

However, fans point out that the skin looks very similar to an existing weapon made from an old CoD part.

“Trench Runner” was already in World War II – Free

This is the criticism: The almost identical skin already existed in Call of Duty: World War II in 2017. There are some variations, such as the color of the wood or the exact arrangement of the attachments and the roast chicken tag that is attached by default.

For fans, however, that’s no reason to pay for this skin. You are mad because:

  • The skin used to be free. You should have unlocked it through challenges and more, not through the shop.
  • The new Dasher skin is currently only available as part of the paid bundle. Even if you only want this skin, you have to pay the full price of 1,500 coins. Earning the shotgun like in WWII is not possible.

This is how fans react: The fans complain about it on reddit. There it says, for example: “The Secret Santa Bundle is just a copy / paste of a free WWII variant that is now being sold for $ 15. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw and realized what it is ”(via reddit.com).

More users get on board and complain that too little effort goes into the skins. Compared to the predecessors Modern Warfare and Cold War, the Vanguard skins are disappointing.

Others say you should just not buy the bundles. You can also enjoy the game without investing money in cosmetics.
