Twitch streamer explains why the MMORPG Lost Ark could soon replace New World

The MMORPG expert and Twitch streamer Asmongold has dealt with the problems of the current MMORPG New World and why he believes that in 2022 the MMORPG Lost Ark could overtake the game from Amazon.

This is the situation:

WoW loses the throne – After more than 5 years, Twitch has a new biggest MMORPG

“New World is boring and repetitive”

These are New World’s problems, according to Asmongold: In an interview with dexerto, the streamer criticized many aspects of New World as time-consuming:

The game is just boring and everything repeats itself – it’s very simple. There are tons of features in New World that are designed to waste your time. It takes forever to farm something in the game. When you die, the equipment loses its durability. These are just things that are meant to increase the amount of time you stay in the game. And there are sure to be people who find it boring to do the same thing over and over again.

Asmongold criticizes the amount of time New World requires:

  • You have to mindlessly kill the same NPCs for hundreds of hours to maybe find an upgrade
  • With crafting you have to craft something 2,000 times
  • The time to get from A to B is “pure downtime” in New World

Because of all of this, New World has already lost a lot of players.

That’s why he’s looking forward to Lost Ark: Asmongold sees a lot of potential in the new MMORPG Lost Ark:

Lost Ark can look back on a success story in South Korea and Russia. If you look at how the game has developed, that’s only positive, you rarely see that in MMORPGs, especially nowadays.

Asmongold believes that Lost Ark as an “ISO-MMORPG” will put a lot of people off at first, but if people overcome this aversion and enjoy the endgame elements of Lost Ark, the MMORPG would have a real chance.

But he sees the danger that Lost Ark could become a “Pay2Win” game in the West:

If the game offers things in any form that you have to pay multiple times for in order to get an advantage in the game, then it probably won’t last long.

Lost Ark has been booming in South Korea recently

Is Lost Ark really that successful in Korea? Yes indeed. Lost Ark is, as Asmongold says, one of the few MMORPGs that has seen strong development after its launch.

Lost Ark in South Korea enjoyed another big boost in 2021. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the extremely popular, but age-old MMORPG “Maple Story” fell in the favor of South Korean players after a scandal in March 2021. Many apparently switched to Lost Ark after it was discovered that certain mechanics in Maple Story did not work as expected. This was seen as a fraud by some players.

But Lost Ark seems to be getting stronger and stronger in South Korea by itself. According to a report by the Polish site MMORPG.org.pl, the number of new users has increased fivefold in the past few weeks. Now you even need queues in the game.

Responsible for this are the announcement of the nine continent “Rowen” with large Reich-versus-Reich battles and in January 2022 a new class of “Painter” is to come, which uses brushes and drawing paper to fight.

Lost Ark says they plan to keep releasing new content:

The newest class in Lost Ark is a little girl with a giant paintbrush
