CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is probably the reason why there is no multiplayer remaster

Activision is probably not afraid that the Call of Duty series games will be mixed up, even if the names are very similar. Nothing is official yet, but this year’s offshoot is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. This is not a remaster or remake, but a completely new part and successor to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare the year 2019. However, some assets from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) will be taken over.

Modern Warfare II eats up the multiplayer remaster

Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer is unlikely to get a remaster. This information comes from the well-known leaker Tom Henderson, who is well networked and informed, especially in the shooter genre.

We remember: A remaster of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign was released in 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One. Since the remaster of the first Modern Warfare also contained the multiplayer, many fans hoped that this will be submitted for MW2. This idea lasted a long time, but was recently shattered by various insiders.

MW2 multiplayer in the new branch: Now we probably also know why there won’t be a multiplayer remaster for Modern Warfare 2 anymore. According to Henderson, many maps, weapons and operators from the game will find their way into a new offshoot called Modern Warfare II. Similar to the Battlefield Portal, we can look forward to elements of an old CoD part that have been prepared with the latest technology.

Multiplayer: In addition to the assets from MW2, Modern Warfare II will of course also bring brand new aspects with it. This should also include a PvPvE mode that is on Escape from Tarkov or the Hazard Zone mode from Battlefield 2042. Allegedly, the map built for this will also be used in Warzone. Henderson also speaks of Free2Play elements. It is not known whether these relate exclusively to Warzone.
