The biggest streamer on Twitch thinks it’s hypocritical that gamers criticize her for sexual content
Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa is a household name on the Twitch streaming platform. She is also the greatest streamer and enormously controversial. She has been banned several times. Now she explains in an interview why gamers actually have no reason to demonize them and their content.
Who is the streamer?
This is what she says now: In an interview with VICE on December 30, 2021, Amouranth spoke about her stand on Twitch, among other things. Her streams, in which she often wears little clothing, are often criticized. She finds it hypocritical, as she says:
It’s ironic that people have a problem with real women adopting their sexuality while teenagers and adults in the video games keep women sexualized.
There are games like Dead or Alive, where women in bikinis fight each other with their butts and try to throw themselves off balance. There’s GTA with strippers and that’s fine.

What is the problem? According to Amouranth, it is acceptable for gamers if women are sexualized in games. But if they do it themselves to earn money, suddenly it is no longer okay.
She sees an injustice in this: “Only real women are not allowed to accept their sexuality for a lucrative gain. But men can create female characters in video games and sell them to the masses and that’s totally accepted. “

How is Twitch on the subject? Sex always plays a major role, especially in adult games like Cyberpunk 2077 or the Witcher series. This is a common motif in gaming and the arts, but Twitch itself has stricter guidelines – at least in part.
The well-known MMORPG streamer Sodapoppin, for example, got lost in a sex dungeon and was banned for it. For him and his community it was rather a funny endeavor, but the platform’s policy of banning has come under constant criticism.
The rules of who is banned when and for what are not always clear. Some violations, which are severe from the user’s point of view, are not or hardly punished, while other streamers are sometimes permanently excluded for small mistakes or oversights:
