Uncharted film: New action scene shows how different film and game are

Although we recognize some scenes from the games, the Uncharted film seems to be a lot different from the original.
Although we recognize some scenes from the games, the Uncharted film seems to be a lot different from the original.

Shortly before the release of the screen implementation of the popular Uncharted series, Sony is showing again something new about the film. This time the video is not a cut trailer, but a clip of a well-known action scene. However, it looks different from what we know from the template.

The airplane scene in the Uncharted film is different than in the game

This is what it’s about: Excerpts from the clip were already shown in the first trailer for the film. The scene is reminiscent of the action sequence from Uncharted 3, in which Nathan Drake accidentally crashes a plane. As the complete clip shows, the scene in the film differs noticeably from the games.

In the game, Nate is alone during the sequence. In general, he’s only on the plane to find his kidnapped mentor, Sully. It looks a little different in the film.

The action itself is very similar: Nate pulls the rip cord of the parachute on one of the containers in the plane, triggering a chain reaction that causes a cargo chain to fly behind the plane. Nate himself is hanging on and laboriously works his way back to the cargo hatch, but is then thrown out into nowhere by a car. Even his famous catch phrase “Oh crap!” is there.

Unlike in the game, Nate is not alone in the film scene: Sully and even Chloe are there. While Sully and his parachute are thrown out of the plane right at the beginning, Chloe does a lot in the fight and is indirectly responsible for making Nate fly.

More news about the Uncharted film:

Not the Uncharted 3 story

Although the film is supposed to tell the story of how Nathan Drake becomes the adventurer we know and love, it was already clear in the first trailers that this is not a retelling of the story from Uncharted 3.

Rather, the various scenes in the trailer show that the film will contain a kind of “best of” action sequences from the Uncharted series. In addition to the airplane scene from Part 3, for example, the pirate ship from Uncharted 4 can also be found in the film.

When does the Uncharted film start? We’ll have to wait until the release, whether and how exactly the film actually adheres to the plot of the games. At least it won’t be long – the film will open in German cinemas on February 10, 2022.

What do you think of the action scene? Are you happy that it looks similar to the game, or do you mind the changes too much?
