The Last of Us remake and TloU 2 director’s cut are said to be coming in 2022
The Last of Us Remake is just one of three games in the series that could arrive in 2022.
At CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Neil Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog is currently working on multiple projects. He didn’t give details, but now we probably know more.
The Last of Us Part III is not one of these games, because Druckmann and his team want to give their ideas for a possible sequel after the grueling development of The Last of Us Part II space to develop. Even so, there could be three projects in the works for the franchise, all of which have a chance of appearing in 2022.
One multiplayer and two single player games in the Last of Us universe
Factions 2
The only game on the list that has been recognized by Naughty Dog so far is multiplayer for The Last of Us 2, an independent successor to the faction mode from the first part.
Officially, we hardly know anything about the title, but supposedly it becomes Free2Play and is supposed to be financed through microtransactions. Naughty Dog says it would like to pay the same attention to multiplayer as it does to the series’ single-player games. Above all, it will be interesting to see how the studio uses its expertise in storytelling in a multiplayer project.

The remake of the first part has still not been officially confirmed, but the well-known leaker Tom Henderson is not only sure that it exists, but also that work on the game is almost complete. The Last of Us 2 Director’s Cut
Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima – The term director’s cut is currently popular in the video game industry, especially when titles from the last generation of consoles appear for the PS5. Now The Last of Us 2 should also get a Director’s Cut.
Even if a next-gen update already exists, a revised version should also appear, which will probably contain some changes and new content.
When are the games rumored to be out?
Henderson calls the remake the second half of 2022 as a possible publication period. He had heard from several sources that it was more or less finished. That comes as a surprise, as the project was passed on to Naughty Dog from another studio and the studio hasn’t been able to work on it for too long. Another argument for Henderson is that Sony has hardly anything in stock for the second half of the year.
