The Bees won the first leg at the start of the season in September with a score of 69:64, and Bargteheide’s coach Said Ghalamkarizadeh expects a defensive battle in the “top game of the day” in the second duel. “The people of Hamburg have a very good zone defense, only allow 62 points on average. But our defense is also impressive, ”says the Bees coach.
The Stormarner are currently in third place in the table with seven wins and two defeats, followed directly by the Hanseatic League (7 wins, 3 defeats). “For both teams, it’s about staying at the front,” explains Ghalamkarizadeh – and warns: “Hamburg West has a very good team. With Preston Kilbert, who studied in Hamburg for a year after high school, they have found a strong youngster from the USA who will organize their game. “
Bargteheide’s basketball player is almost the best
But the Bees around their top scorer Steffen Hönicke (24.6 points on average) can almost compete with the best line-up. Only Tomas Balinskas will be out until the end of January after a torn ligament. “Otherwise everyone is on board and want to pick up where we left off in December,” explains Ghalamkarizadeh, who has won the last five games with his team.
