Judo premiere: Lübeck Wandtke brothers together at the course

Judo is her life, it is lived in her family from an early age. Igor Wandtke (31 / -73 kg), Olympic third from Tokyo with the team, and his 13-year-old brother Viktor (-66 kg) have often stood together on the tatami in the Budokan home in Lübeck. But now they are celebrating a premiere. In the joint course for the U21 and men’s squad, they will train together in the national team for the first time from Friday to January 14th at the Kienbaum Sports School. Budokan hope David Ickes (19 / -66 kg), U21 national team and DM silver in the men’s DM, completes the Lübeck trio after recovering from an elbow injury.

Wandtke brothers together in Hanover

In the Randori (training competition), the youngsters challenge the elite, who are preparing for the first Grand Slam tournaments of the year in Paris and Tel Aviv. especially about the leap in performance of the youngest, who last attracted attention with second place in the men’s ranking tournament in Munich. Apart from the national teams, the Wandtke brothers have been training together since autumn. Viktor followed his big brother to Hanover, where he trained at the Olympic base and studied computer science at the university.

Ickes and Wandtke fight for Remscheid

Ickes, with Viktor Wandtke in the “Team Lübeck” promotional team, is at the OSP in Munich, studying civil engineering. The Budokan talents also celebrate their joint Bundesliga debut, having joined first division promoted Remscheid. In the judo upper house they meet Igor Wandtke, who fights for Hanover.
