In 2021 we have seen how up to 5 Apple devices were discontinued. It is a natural process in the technological world, but one that has made us think which devices will be left behind in 2022. And we are quite clear that these 3 Apple devices will stop selling this year.

Apple Watch Series 3

Launched in 2017, Apple has been selling the Apple Watch Series 3 non-stop since its launch, so will be 5 years old in this 2022. It is an affordable model, but perhaps not so recommended, having more modern options such as the Apple Watch SE.

Few were betting that it would continue to sell after the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7, but Apple has decided to keep it in its catalog. Of course, we do not expect Apple to continue to maintain them much longer and it could be discontinued by the end of 2022.

iPod touch

It seems incredible but it is so, Apple continues to sell an iPod in the middle of 2022. It is the iPod touch launched in 2019, which is also compatible with iOS 15. However, having the A10 Fusion chip may definitively end with its updates this 2022, we already know the filtered list of devices compatible with iOS 16.

When the iPhone was introduced, the iPod stopped making so much sense, and right now I don’t think it has too many sales. The possibility of Apple releasing a new model was rumored, but it never happened.

Mac mini (Intel)

The transition to Apple Silicon could be completed soon, and the Mac mini with an Intel chip that Apple keeps selling currently it should disappear. We do not know exactly what is the reason that it continues to be sold.

But what is clear is that when the new 2022 Mac mini model is introduced, this one with an Intel processor will stop being sold. We don’t know when, but in 2022 it will be discontinued.

Could 2022 be the biggest year in Apple’s history?

Perhaps one more device will join the list. When Apple introduces new devices, there are always old ones that stop selling. The iPhone 11 is one of those that could follow these steps, as well as other Mac models. We will see at the end of the year if our forecasts are fulfilled.
