Apparently, a gigantic takeover is imminent in the video game world. As Take-Two Interactive has announced, the company plans to take over the mobile giant Zynga. The deal is said to have a total volume of $ 12.7 billion. Although the takeover is not yet dry, it should be completed in the course of the first half of 2022 (via Gematsu).

Zynga has enjoyed great success in the past few years, especially in the social gaming sector, with the best-known publications including FarmVille, CSR Racing and Empires & Puzzles. Take-Two wants to pay a lot for the purchase of these core competencies. For comparison: Microsoft bought Bethesda just under a year for about $ 7.5 billion, so the Zynga deal would be almost double the volume.

Mobile implementations of well-known brands planned

In a call with investors, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was very pleased about the planned takeover and underlined the company’s Free2Play and cross-platform. You now have the skills, both in terms of development and publishing, to create new titles from the Take Two lineup, says Zelnick. With regard to Mobile and Free2Play, the collection of console and PC titles is “not nearly exhausted”. (via VGC)

So it all boils down to the fact that if the deal is concluded, we can expect new mobile games from numerous well-known franchises in the future, including of course GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands, Midnight Club or BioShock. Some of these titles have already been implemented in the past, such as that of GTA 3 from more than ten years ago:

However, Take-Two is apparently looking to new and specially tailored mobile offshoots of its well-known brands. It will probably take some time until then, and the takeover has not yet been approved by all sides. However, the announcement of the letter of intent is already a very sure sign that the deal will actually take place in the next few weeks or months.

What do you think of the deal? And which mobile implementation of a Take Two brand would you like?
