No “metaverses”, Apple’s virtual reality glasses will not be an “all-day device”
The “metaverse” is off limits for Apple, according to a new report.
We have known for some time that Apple is working on its own virtual reality glasses. This gadget is expected to be revealed to the world later this year., although it seems that those of Cupertino are pointing to an experience different from that proposed by other companies such as Meta. In fact, a new report indicates that Apple wants to focus on the opposite of what Meta showed with its “metaverso“.
During one of his latest newsletters, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that he has received fairly direct information about Apple’s approach to virtual reality. The company believes that the idea of a “metaverso” this “out of limits” for Apple internally, an idea totally opposite to the one proposed by Meta –formerly Facebook– in the middle of last year.
There’s a word I’d be surprised to hear on stage when Apple announces its headphones: metaverse. I have been directly told that the idea of a completely virtual world that users can escape into – as in the Meta Platforms / Facebook vision of the future – is off-limits to Apple.

As they comment, Apple’s approach to virtual reality would be guided to sporadic consumption of content, communication and games, but not to be a device “all day” style of “Metaverse“.
Of course, it remains to be seen when Apple’s virtual reality glasses will go on sale. Some rumors indicate that the Apple Vision would arrive this same 2022, and they will be very expensive, they would also have a spectacular 3,000 pixel per inch screen with an 8K resolution and a tentative cost of 3,000 US dollars. Undoubtedly the specifications aim to be of the highest level, something that is only comparable to the high of its possible final price. However, all this is nothing more than rumors so far, and we will have to wait for an official presentation by Apple.
