Pokémon GO wants to improve its raids – you can help and earn gifts

Almost five years after activating raids in Pokémon GO, Niantic is now looking for your help. Together they want to improve the raid experience for the trainers. We’ll show you the details and how you can help.

What happens in the raids? Pokémon GO developers, Niantic, have partnered with RIT Geo Games and Media Research Lab. This is a research center sponsored by Niantic. The focus is on developing new geo-game technologies, studying the design of geo-games, and researching geo-game users, their experiences and the impact of geo-games on local and global cultures.

Together with the Pokémon GO community, the team now wants to improve the raid feature. To do this, they called on reddit to participate. Trainers already have clear suggestions for improvement.

Interview for a gift – this is how you can help improve

How does that go? Jiangnan Xu from Niantic-RIT writes on reddit that the research team wants to interview Pokémon GO players. They talk about how the players like the current raid experience and how raiding affects their Pokémon GO gameplay. The interviews are held and recorded using the Zoom program.

1. A “Ready” button in private raid groups (Not in public groups, because the long lobby time helps players without social media)
2. Prepare a group invitation before entering the raid
3. The free daily pass is said to be valid for remote raids and normal raids
4. An evasive button to replace swiping to the side
5. Icons for switching Pokémon instead of the pop-up menu

These five points are very popular in the community. Especially the “ready” button to start the raids faster is a point that has been desired for years.
