500 hours of zombie apocalypse are too much for gamers

Video games today are often criticized for being too short. The announcement by the Polish developer Techland that his zombie game “Dying Light 2”, which will be released in February, will last more than 500 hours seems all the more unusual. However, the reaction of the players is even more unusual: They reacted with a shit storm.

The stumbling block was a tweet from the developers: It was announced that it would take “at least 500 hours” to play the new zombie shocker “completely”. Techland posted a comparison: It would take 534 hours to walk from Madrid to Warsaw. With “Dying Light 2” the players should be busy for a while. However, many apparently do not want to spend 500 hours in the zombie apocalypse and long for quality, not quantity. A Twitter user fears that you get an eight-hour campaign – and then you need 500 hours to “collect every sock in the game.” Developer: Main story lasts up to 100 hours The developer quickly tried to limit the damage and specified: 500 hours It takes to complete all the tasks in the game and to research everything. The main campaign and the most important secondary tasks, however, should be possible in “less than 100 hours”. That would still be very long, but should represent a much more realistic game time estimate. How long you actually need for “Dying Light 2” as an average player will be shown from February 4th. Then the zombie shooter will appear with parkour elements for the PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles and – as a streaming version from the cloud – for the Nintendo Switch.
