LoL: YouTuber wants to win the championship with his own esports team, loses the first match straight away

YouTuber Maximilian Knabe, better known as HandOfBlood, founded the Eintracht Spandau esports team in League of Legends. He started directly in the highest German league and would like to win the EU Masters in the next two years, the highest title just behind the LEC. But the opening match of the league was anything but good.

What kind of team is that?

  • According to HandOfBlood, Eintracht Spandau is supposed to stir up the esports scene because they want to ensure more identification and storytelling. That is why virtual press conferences and press conferences in which the YouTuber comments on questions from “journalists” are recorded again and again. However, these questions come from his staff.
  • There was a big staging around the announcement of one’s own squad. Negotiations were made with bigger names like PowerOfEvil, one of the most successful German players, while having fun. Rekkles, one of the world’s strongest players in the AD-Carry position, was also spread as a “rumor” by the team itself. Both have already taken part in the World Championships in LoL several times.
  • In the end, however, the team consists of rather “normal players”, some of whom have already played in the Prime League or comparable leagues before. Nevertheless, they want to win the EU Masters with the team within the next two years. The best teams from Europe that do not play in the LEC compete in this tournament.
  • On Tuesday, January 11th, Eintracht Spandau opened the Prime League with the match against Gamer Legion. But while HandOfBlood described the duel as a “simple bye” in the “press conference”, the game did not go well for Eintracht Spandau.

Errors in the botlane and problems in team play

How did the match against Gamer Legion go? Rather modest. Especially in the first few minutes, the botlane for AD-Carry Leander “Kynetic” Sydekum and Olivier “Prime” Payet played very aggressively and repeatedly forced fights. They rely on the combination of Jhin and Leona.

But at the crucial moment and with a bit of luck, Gamer Legion was able to counter and secure the first blood on their own AD-Carry. After that, Gamer Legion dominated the botlane with Caitlyn, which was due to her long range and the slight gold lead, which then expanded. Also the first dragon against an Gamer Legion.

Eintracht Spandau then focused on the botlane and was even able to take the lead 5: 4 in the kills after 16 minutes, but was still over 1,000 gold and two dragons behind.

Then there was a decisive team fight for dragon number 3, which the HandOfBlood team lost significantly. Leona and Ornn’s ultimates fizzled out, while Jhin and LeBlanc could hardly do any damage.

In return, Caitlyn got 2 kills and they turned the score to a total of 5-8. They also secured the third dragon.

From then on, Gamer Legion dominated every team fight and after a desperate battle for the Baron, in which Eintracht Spandau lost 3 players, they ended the match after just under 30 minutes.

Overall, the HandOfBlood team seemed very uncoordinated and without a chance in the fights. However, Eintracht Spandau was only founded at the end of 2021 and announced the roster of the players very late. It can be assumed that the team is simply not yet well established.

“We know what we have to work on, but it will take a while”

How do the players and the YouTuber react? So far there is no video from Eintracht Spandau for the start. However, the fans can expect another “press conference” soon.

In the Prime League live stream, however, supporter Olivier “Prime” Payet said in an interview. There he said, “It was nice. Of course we lost, that’s annoying, but I felt the support from the fans before and after the game. We know where we made mistakes and what we need to work on, but that will take some time. “

Team impresses with audience numbers and fan support: Even if the start in the Prime League was not successful, the Eintracht Spandau team has something to celebrate. Because they showed the match live on their own Twitch channel, which now had almost as many viewers as the official stream.

The support of the fans, who cheered on the team from Berlin in large numbers, is also praised on the Twitter channel. The defeat is said to have been a step backwards, but now they want to “clean up the field from behind”.
