So you use the new tornadoes and lightning in Fortnite to your advantage

What has changed? In the latest hotfix from January 11, 2022, the long-awaited tornadoes and lightning bolts were added to the Fortnite island.

Where can I find tornadoes and lightning? You can now encounter both weather phenomena randomly in your matches. However, you shouldn’t look for it in the ranked modes: Both features are currently deactivated in the competitive game modes.

The good thing is: you don’t have to be afraid if a tornado or a thundercloud suddenly opens up in front of you.

On the contrary: You can use both elements to move quickly across the map.

What do tornadoes and lightning bring?

This is how you can take advantage of the weather: You probably know that: You landed relaxed on the edge of the island and started to loot. Collect materials, weapons, maybe grab a loot llama – and suddenly you realize: Damn it, the storm is already here.

In order to get away quickly, in the current chapter 3 you had to rely primarily on cars, jumping surfaces, chillies or the popular Spider-Man net swinging machine. Now the weather ensures even more mobility.

What tornadoes bring: The tornadoes are hard to miss, making them easy to find when they form nearby. They do no harm to you, but catapult you high into the air and give you the opportunity to make a lot of meters with the glider.

They can also be used to escape escalating firefights that you may not be up to right now.

However, you should be a little careful – the tornadoes take a lot of junk with them. For example, if there’s a car that just explodes, you’d better not be hit.

This is how you use lightning: You can find the lightning by keeping an eye out for dark storm clouds. This is where the lightning strikes can occur.

In contrast to the storm, the lightning damage you, but only a little: A lightning strike takes 10 life points from you. In return, you get a decent speed boost, with which you can move forward at breakneck speed. Even so, you can bring a little more mobility into your game.

If you want to be struck by lightning, you can increase your chances by:

• Going into the water under the storm cloud
• Or rises to the highest point under the cloud

But be careful: The lightning bolts set flammable objects in the vicinity on fire. So just don’t build a wooden tower to climb as high as possible to get to the lightning bolts.

Once you’ve caught a lightning bolt, you can surprise your opponents as long as the speed boost lasts. If you want to find opponents more quickly, a simple audio setting is worthwhile.
