The Last of Us series on HBO will start in 2022, according to IMDb

Ellie and Joel will come to our living room as early as 2022.

After a lot of indications that the TV series for The Last of Us will be broadcast in the coming year, the signs are good that it will still work out in 2022. On the website of the Internet Movie Database (IMDb for short) it says (via Reddit): “The premiere of the The Last of Us series takes place on HBO Max in 2022.“

That can of course also mean that some episodes will not be shown until next year, but at least the series apparently starts this year.

Why did many believe in 2023? Of course, the producers of The Last of Us are struggling with the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic just like most other ambitious film and series projects. The postponement of season two of The Witcher, which was only recently finally released, is another prominent example.

When could The Last of Us air?

Of course, we don’t have an exact release date yet, but there are some clues. Even if everything goes smoothly, we probably won’t be able to join Ellie and Joel on their trip until the third quarter. The Last of Us day traditionally takes place on September 26th, but that would be very early.

October is generally a good time for productions with a horror theme. But don’t be surprised if it’s November or even December before the series airs.
