The 11 best addons for WoW BC Classic and how to install them

If you want to make WoW BC Classic a little easier for you, you can change all sorts of things with addons. MeinMMO shows you the best addons for different areas and explains how to install them.

Addon list for WoW BC Classic: With addons you can get additional information about opponents, quests and items, customize your interface or get more power from your class.

Most of the best players hardly ever gamble without such modifications. This also applies to BC Classic. We have therefore put together the most useful addons for you here. If you also play retail, you will find the best addons for WoW: Shadowlands here.

Update from January 14, 2022: We updated the list and added addons for PvP.

The best addons for dungeons and raids in BC Classic

The Burning Crusade offers a total of 16 dungeons and 9 raids, some of which will only be unlocked over time with the coming phases. However, you can already visit most of this PvE content and it will be easier to get through with the right addons.

Deadly Boss Mods

Deadly Boss Mods, DBM for short, provides you with information on all sorts of skills in raids and dungeons. The addon tracks the abilities of bosses with timers or issues warnings if you have to dodge or mock as a tank.

You can move the various bars and displays freely and arrange them in the interface in the way that best suits you. We recommend: move important information to the middle, cooldowns and less relevant information to the outside.

GTFO

With GTFO you have a useful tool at hand that can save you from death. The addon emits loud, acoustic signals when you are in areas that can cause damage or kill you – so-called “Void Zones”.

Since some of these areas are not necessarily easy to recognize visually in BC Classic, GTFO helps you with loud noises and warnings. The addon is also extremely useful if your character is hidden by other settings.

WeakAuras

WeakAuras is probably one of the most versatile addons out there. You can use it to create so-called “auras” that show you all sorts of things: cooldowns of your skills, buffs or even boss skills.

You can either create such auras yourself or you can get ready-made settings (via wago.io). WeakAuras has support for every class, specialization, and just about every piece of content in WoW. Note that some auras only use English spell names and can cause errors with a German client.

Details!

Details is actually a so-called damage meter, i.e. an addon that records the damage of the players in the group. Such addons are sometimes frowned upon in Classic, but there are details! many options that make it extremely useful.

You can use the addon to track which abilities players have been damaged by, who has interrupted spells or used consumables. Such information aids in error analysis to address potential difficulties with a boss.

“Details!” It even comes with the Tiny Threat plugin, which displays the threat on targets. This is especially useful for tanks, but also useful for DPS players to ensure an opponent doesn’t suddenly switch targets.

Die besten PvP-Addons in BC Classic

With arena, open PvP and battlegrounds, Burning Crusade offers a number of opportunities to compete with other players. For many fans, PvP is even one of the driving forces behind playing Classic and BC Classic at all. 2 addons help you to keep track:

OmniBar

OmniBar tracks the cooldowns of your opponents’ and yourself’s most important abilities. So you can see when which skill is ready again at a glance at the icons and timers. This works in instanced PvP as well as in the open world.

You can customize which class skills you want to track. So you don’t see anything that isn’t necessarily relevant to you and you can better maintain an overview.

The information is important to know when you have to behave how. If the opponent has strong defensive cooldowns ready, you should only elicit them before a strong attack. If he can go on the offensive because his CDs are back, you should play carefully.

BattleGroundEnemies

The addon BattleGroundEnemeies (short: BGE) has only one single and quite simple function: it shows you friendly and enemy players in battlefields. In principle, something like this can also be done via the interface, but BGE has a number of advantages:

  • you can see the opponent’s line-up right at the start, even with class colors, depending on the setting
  • BGE works in tandem with other addons like Clique
  • the frames show who currently has which player in the target
  • Control and interrupt abilities are attached to the frame

Especially on large battlefields, overview is important and BGE especially helps “shotcallers” to lead the team to victory. This makes it easier to call targets or see which opponent is already being raked to help finish them off faster.

The best addons for leveling and questing in BC Classic

The level phase in The Burning Crusade lasts much longer than in retail WoW. With the right addons, you can save time or get a few conveniences that the game doesn’t already offer.

Questie

With Questie you basically get exactly the quest overlay that Retail WoW already has. You will see available quests on the map and as soon as you accept a quest, Questie will tell you where to do it.

This saves you reading quest texts, which, however, makes questing fun for some players. So use Questie wisely. However, the addon can be useful even if the texts are difficult to decipher or ambiguous.

In addition, Questie shows you quests on the map that you may not have discovered in the last 14 years because they are so hidden.

Attune

For many dungeons and raids in Burning Crusade you first need an access quest or a key, so-called “Attunement”. These quests usually require a lot of work and are chained in long chains.

Attune shows you exactly where and when you can start which quest series and which steps you have to complete next. So you can already make preparations while leveling to get started later in the endgame.

The best addons for your interface in BC Classic

With some addons you can change how WoW looks like and get more information that the game doesn’t give you by default. As a rule, these extensions help with the overview and organization of your interface.

TradeSkillMaster (TSM)

TradeSkillMaster (TSM for short) is a trading addon, which gives the auction house a completely new look. With TSM you can filter for several items at the same time, enter different parameters and see the cheapest price directly if many items are listed. In Burning Crusade, auctions are not listed as clearly as in Retail by default.

You can also always see the current market price of various items by scanning the auction house or using a companion app. Since TSM also supports your professions, you can use the addon to see directly how expensive it is to produce an item and whether it’s worth selling.

With advanced settings you can also ship items in “groups” and buy and sell them comfortably via macro. For this you need a good overview of the market of your server.

Bagnon

Bagnon consolidates your bags into a single inventory, allowing you to see all your collected items at a glance. This saves you sorting and arranging the bags.

In addition, with Bagnon you have a view of your bank from anywhere without having to visit a city. In your inventory, items that you cannot use or important items are highlighted with borders.

ThreatPlates

ThreatPlates allows you to customize enemy nameplates. You will then not only see a red bar above their heads, but you will also receive some information, such as the opponent’s level and his name. There are different designs to choose from.

But the most important thing is: next to the nameplate is the enemy’s current target when you are attacked. A color code tells you how high your current threat is on the target. White is low threat, yellow is medium threat, and red is high threat.

This is especially useful for tanks to quickly see which of your targets is currently attacking one of your DPS players. DDs quickly recognize where they should be more careful or even stop for a moment.

Install addons – Here’s how

If you want to install addons manually, you simply have to download the files from our linked websites and unpack them in the following folder:

  • […]World of Warcraft_classic_InterfaceAddOns

However, you have to check each time whether there was an update and download it again. It is more practical with a manager. We recommend WoWUp, which you can get on the official website (via WoWUp.io).

With WoWUp you can easily download and install addons from different sources, while the program can manage both WoW Classic, BC Classic and Retail at the same time. Use a drop-down menu to select which version you want to install or update addons for.

You can find more details in our guide: How to install addons with and without WoWUp in WoW BC Classic
