Dying Light 2 offers 4-player co-op, but no crossplay (yet).

As with the predecessor Dying Light, we can also experience Dying Light 2: Stay Human in co-op. However, the multiplayer is somewhat limited due to the strong story focus and many choices.

When will co-op mode be available?

We can play co-op right from the release on February 4th. However, since the game will not appear uncut in Germany and is therefore subject to some adjustments, the co-op is limited to Germany for the time being. However, Techland is working on adding more regions.

You can find out more about the cut version in Germany in the following article:

With how many people can you play in co-op?

The mode is designed for up to four players. We can therefore roam through The City as a duo, but also together in a larger team.

Can the story be played together?

Yes, all missions in Dying Light 2 can be experienced together in co-op. However, that doesn’t mean everyone keeps the same progress. Only the host, i.e. the host of the co-op game, progresses in their own story. So if you play as a guest, you’re at a disadvantage here.

But the others don’t go completely empty-handed. Character progress should apply to everyone and collected items will also be retained. In addition, the co-op partners should at least have some influence by right to have a say in decisions to have. However, the host has the last word.

Will the difficulty be adjusted?

At the moment we have no information about this. In the predecessor it was still the case that the game became too easy due to the co-op mode.

Unterstützt Dying Light 2 Crossplay?

There will be no crossplay at the start of the game. This means that only players with the same platforms can use the multiplayer together.

But that doesn’t always have to be the case. Tymon Smektala, Techland’s lead game designer, explained WCCFTech, that they hope to be able to supply crossplay in the future.

After problematic development and the resulting delays, Dying Light 2: Stay Human will be released on February 4, 2022. The zombie survival shooter comes to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and as a cloud version for the Nintendo switch. If you want, you can really turn every stone and spend up to 500 hours in The City.
