This Model Says She Was Tracked For Hours With An AirTag

The AirTag has become popular for tracking more than things. And this is not exactly positive. Just a few weeks ago, an American influencer shared her testimony about how she had been stalked thanks to an AirTag placed on her vehicle when leaving a bar. However, and what was expected to be an isolated event it has happened again.

The model of Sports Illustrated, Brooks Nader, denounced through his account of Instagram, having been tracked for five hours while out bar hopping on Wednesday night, after a stranger apparently slipped an Apple AirTag into her coat pocket.

The AirTag does not work as Apple expects for all users

Like most users, Nade was warned about the presence of the device thanks to a notification from her iPhone which said that an unknown accessory moved with it. And he discovered the AirTag in his coat after he got home.

It was the scariest moment of all time. And I just want everyone to know that this exists.

Before the stalking, Nader said he had no idea AirTags existed. Now, he is using his huge social media following to raise awareness about potential security risks.

With the launch of the AirTag in April 2021, there was no lack of concerns about the risks that these could imply in the safety of users, when used for purposes other than those of tracking their own objects.

However, ever since Apple has ensured that the trackers have anti-stalking mechanisms such as the alert that notifies Nader. It also plays a beep after being out of range of the owner’s iPhone. Apple may update security measures in the future to prevent similar situations.
