Bug Shows Fortnite Skins In Different Style, Fans Say “This Looks Great”

A glitch in Fortnite caused a player’s skins to appear in a cel-shaded look. The player filmed his skin collection with the new look and the players are thrilled. This graphic style is really well received.

What is this error? Reddit user coldasaghost experienced a graphical glitch on his Xbox while viewing his skin library. The cosmetics that were supposed to be displayed in the “Cel Shading Look” (i.e. in the Borderlands style) suddenly looked more normal. This is so well received by the community that Epic is asked to set up an option for it.

Here we show you the “broken” cosmetics and the reactions of the community to them.

“Seriously, this looks great”

This is how it looks in game: In the 30-second clip, user coldasaghost shows some content that should actually have a cel-shaded look. This includes:

  • Naruto Uzumaki
  • Sasuke Uchiha
  • Rick Sanchez
  • Reina

We include the reddit thread with the video here:

What exactly triggered the glitch and how to reproduce it is unclear. Nevertheless, this “mistake” is well received by the other players. The main difference to the actual appearance of the skins is the brightness. In the glitch video, the skins appear darker and without reflections.

What the players say: There is a lot of encouragement for the cosmetics in the comments on reddit.

Critical_Buddy_2779 writes, “Seriously, this looks great. I wish it was an adjustable option because that looks good”. To which Coldasaghost replies “Ditto! I was so excited I thought they really added this to the game. But then I was immediately disappointed when I joined a match.”

Others write:

  • “They look like clay animation”
  • “I don’t know whether to hate it or love it”
  • “It looks better than walking across the map as a beam of light”
  • “This looks better and is still cel-shaded. It’s the light and the textures that look better”
  • “God I would love that. Especially because it would make it easier to combine the skins with cosmetics that don’t have contours.”
  • “Uh I don’t know. It looks good on Naruto and Rick, but absolutely horrible on Toonafish. If they add it then I’m definitely ready to play Naruto and Sasuke a lot more as the cel shading puts me off a little”

How do you like this “new” type of cel shading cosmetics? Do you think that would be a speedy improvement and wish you had an on/off option, or do you prefer the skins in the original? Let us know what you think about it here on MeinMMO in the comments.
