Former LoL Pro Complains About Current Meta: “It’s Crazy How Much Damage There Is”

Season 12 has just started in League of Legends. But she gets a lot of criticism. In addition to the Chemtech Dragon, many players are also bothered by the high damage that Bruisers are currently causing. One of those critics is Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek, former Fnatic midlaner.

What is the player criticizing? Nemesis, whose contract was not renewed by Fnatic in 2020, is now a full-time streamer. In one of his live streams he commented on the current meta. A clip went viral and was in the top 5 on the LoL subreddit for a long time.

There, the midlaner shows a video of the champion Veigar fighting an Olaf. Nemesis explains: “If I was playing Veigar right now, in season 12, and this Olaf comes my way, I’d be dead. I’d be literally dead as hell.”

But although Olaf has two damage-causing items, Black Cleaver and Hexdrinker, Veigar narrowly wins the duel. The streamer comments: “Look at this, he doesn’t deal any damage. What I’m saying is that it’s crazy how much damage there is in the game now compared to the old seasons.”

The clip showing Nemesis doing this was recorded in either 2019 or 2020 – as in Seasons 9 or 10.

Streamer gets a lot of encouragement for his statement

How do other players see it? In the comments on reddit, most players agree with Nemesis’ statement. The bruisers in particular – tanks that also cause damage, such as Olaf or Renekton – are currently said to cause too much damage.

  • One user claims: “Bruisers are sort of like assassins right now. They die in 1-2 seconds under focus and only take 1-2 seconds to kill an AD carry.”
  • The top comment on the thread summarizes the situation as follows: “League is all about who takes out the enemy faster right now. League of Oneshots.”

But not only the bruisers are disturbed. Some users also criticize the many procs and “damage over time” effects. As one player explains:

You are hit by a spell of fire. You now burn for about 10 seconds, and due to his passive, Liandries keeps triggering. You easily lose 600 lives from just one ability.

Xerath support with Luden’s Echo. Each Q now does 500-600 damage. Magic shoes almost completely break your resistance to magic. You must dodge a Q every 6 seconds or you lose a third of your life.

Since when is there too much damage? The criticism surrounding the damage has been around for several years. Many players make the release of Runes Reforged from Pre-Season 8 the date. At that time, the rune system was revised and effects came into play that are supposed to be responsible for the excessive damage (via reddit).

But in the current season 12 the problem seems to be the biggest.

At the same time there are big discussions about the new chemtech kite. It has already been nerfed and is still too strong:
