Twitch subsequently bans streamers forever – after hate raid on streamer

Twitch subsequently permanently blocked the streamer Jidion “JiDion” Adams (21). Originally, the well-known YouTuber received a 14-day ban because he was accused of organizing a “hate raid” against the streamer Pokimane. Now he says his ban has been changed to permanent. He believes Twitch has caved in to external pressure.

Why was he banned?

  • We reported on MeinMMO on Friday that the “JiDion” community spammed the words “L Ratio” in the Pokimane stream. It was kind of a “boo”. This behavior of his community is said to have occurred at the request of the streamer – this is called a “hate raid”.
  • JiDion repeatedly shared a year-old clip of Pokimane on her Twitter channel in the run-up to this incident, in which she used a derogatory term for black people beginning with “N”.
  • Many big streamers showed solidarity with Pokimane. They said the attack on the streamer was a clear case of “misogyny”. Women would be criticized much harder on Twitch than men. If they ever did something wrong, they would be held up to them for years.

Streamer says Twitch has caved in to external pressure

This is what JiDion says now: In a video to fans, the Twitch streamer says his original 14-day ban has been turned into a “permanent ban” by Twitch. Twitch apparently gave in to the voices that demanded his punishment be harsher.

JiDion finds this ban unfair. He says he accepts his original ban for violating Twitch’s business rules, but a permanent ban is unfair. After all, he broke the rules for the first time and such a “permanent ban” deprives him of the opportunity to show that he can do better.

He received the ban the first day he became a partner on Twitch.

JiDion calls on his fans to beat the drum for his unban on Twitch using the hashtag tag “TwitchfreejiDion”.

Call leads to a lot of criticism of Poikimane and Twitch – plus accusations of racism

This is the result now: Under the hashtag there are more clips on Twitter showing the old Pokimane video. In addition, unfavorable photos are posted of Pokimane that have been part of an attack on them in the past. In addition, some see JiDion’s ban as a case of racism: A black streamer is severely punished, while an alleged white streamer (Pokimane) gets away easily even with serious offenses:

  • One user says Pokimane would use their white privileges to have a black person kicked off the platform.
  • Pokimane was only banned for 2 days despite streaming illegally, which is a federal crime. JiDion will now be banned for such triviality.
  • One user says, “Black creators always get the most hate.”
  • “They will do anything to take down a successful black person.”

That Pokimane was born in Morocco doesn’t seem to play much of a role in the discussion.

Pokimane has repeatedly been the victim of attacks in the past. She is the only woman at the head of Twitch and thus has an exposed position:
