Derby Phoenix – VfB Lübeck: The venue should be clarified in the near future

Stadium Buniamshof, Lohmühle – or is it an external solution? Even after a two-hour conversation with the school and sports department of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, it is still not finally clear where the regional league derby between 1. FC Phönix and VfB Lübeck will take place on February 12th.

“All three options are on the table, but we have initially agreed not to disclose it,” reported sports director Frank Salomon after the “good and factual” conversation with division head Dr. Hans-Joachim Friedemann and Frank Schroeder. A decision should be made in the near future: “Details still need to be clarified for all three options. Time is running out,” says Salomon. A final decision will be made on Wednesday or on Thursday.

Larger fan gatherings likely

At the end of December, the Phönixer had received mail from the Hanseatic city of Stadt. After a “joint assessment by the police and the municipal regulatory office” the club was informed to name an alternative – such as the opponent’s Lohmühle. Background: The Buniamshof playing field can be seen from various locations outside the stadium. “Larger crowds of fans on the various viewing options” outside of the buni are “very likely”. The interest of the fans in the Lübschen derby is great – 5877 spectators saw the 2:2 in the first leg at the Lohmühle on October 1st.

Only 500 spectators allowed

Due to the corona, only 500 spectators (with a mask also at the seat) are currently allowed.
