The most popular weapon in CoD Warzone is beaten by a new MP – 3 setups are stronger

The popular MP40 has actually already received an effective nerf in Call of Duty: Warzone. But the submachine gun remains very popular. MeinMMO shows you why it’s time for a change of scenery. The new wall pattern: the Welgun.

The MP40 submachine gun currently tops the usage stats and is the most-played weapon in the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone.

According to the statistics site “WZRanked”, the MP is in almost 15% of all drawn loadouts (via wzranked.com, Stand: 18. Januar). Then comes the LMG Bren with almost 11.5% and the next MP is only in 7th place with 2.73% – the PPSh from Vanguard.

The new submachine gun Welgun outperforms the meta setup of the MP40 in terms of damage – and with 3 different setup variations. The new MP is also easy to control. MeinMMO shows you the details.

What attachment combinations does the MP40 beat? If you use the following attachments together, you will get a better time-to-kill on chest hits than with the meta-weapon MP40:

  • MP40: 564 milliseconds
  • Welgun 1: 500 milliseconds
    • Recoil Booster / 120mm Gaiwan Short / .45 Mag
  • Welgun 2: 530 milliseconds
    • Recoil Booster / 120mm Gaiwan Short / 9mm Magazine
  • Welgun 3: 519 milliseconds
    • Recoil booster / 9mm magazine

Which setup is recommended? You will get the best results with a combination of the powerful ammo attachments together with the 120mm Gaiwan barrel. Whether you prefer the 9mm bullets or the .45 bullets is up to you.

The .45 rounds offer a better time to kill, but the 9mm round has the higher rate of fire – if you miss, the time to kill doesn’t increase quite as much as the .45 rounds.

What makes the Welgun strong? The MP from Mid-Season 1 convinces with its damage and offers you a strong control. The weapon plays very well and takes a similar number of hits as the MP40. However, the MP40 remains a bit more stable and easier to play.

However, one thing stands in the way of the submachine gun’s big breakthrough in Warzone: unlocking. You must get 10 submachine gun kills while under sight in a single match, 15 times.

The challenge is clearly tailored to the multiplayer of CoD: Vanguard. Warzone also has loot mode, but it takes a lot more time.

The MP40 can keep its throne for the time being, but it’s not just the Welgun that’s pushing. The PPSh-41 from Vanguard, the MP5 from CoD MW, the OTs 9 from Cold War – all bring you a better time-to-kill and have already cast a skeptical eye on the dominant MP40.
