These OnePlus users will no longer get software updates, know the status of your phone

OnePlus smartphone Updates: It is now ending software support for its 2018 smartphones, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The company has officially confirmed this news on the OnePlus Community Forum. These devices are now almost four years old and will no longer receive any software updates.

After 3 major updates and over 3 years of updates, almost 60 closed beta builds and over 30 open beta updates, it’s time to close a chapter and announce the end of OnePlus 6 and 6T official software support .

The OnePlus 6 was launched in 2018 with Android OREO, while the OnePlus 6T made its debut with Android 9 Pie later that year. Both the smartphones received the Android 11 update last year, which was the last major Android OS update for those premium phones.

The company released Oxygen OS 11.1.2.2 update for these OnePlus phones in November 2021, which now seems to be the last update. This also means that the device will not receive the official Android 12 build that was expected, as these are much older smartphones and OnePlus has already fulfilled its promise to offer three years of software updates for them.

If you have a new OnePlus phone, you don’t have to worry about missing software updates, which are essential to maintain the security of the phone. Back in July 2021, OnePlus announced a new update policy for its smartphones and said that the OnePlus 8 series and newer versions would get three major Android OS updates and four years of security updates. Devices like OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 9, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 will continue to receive updates.
