The boss of the new LoL MMORPG reveals whether you can also gamble as a solo player

The new League of Legends MMORPG was officially announced at the end of 2020. While there hasn’t been any gameplay since then, there has been some testimony from Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, the game’s executive producer. He now commented on the topic of group content and solo players.

What does Ghostcrawler say about solo players? On Twitter, the boss was asked how he felt about building groups in group content. Specifically, the user wanted to know whether this should be done with random groups or whether you should found a guild and find your own players.

Ghostcrawler replied that its MMORPG should be played with a community and with friends:

Now that sounds a bit vague, but our philosophy is that if you want to play single player, there are some great titles out there. horizon! GoW! Persona! Cheers to Pathfinder WotR!

Will you not progress at all as a solo player? It’s hard to say at this point as we don’t know enough about the content and leveling process.

However, Ghostcrawler previously explained that its MMORPG relies on dungeons and raids and that the raids should even become one of the most important factors in the game. The latest statement strengthens the assumption that this content is probably not linked to a dungeon finder, but that the players have to find their own groups.

However, the boss’s statement mainly generates positive reactions, because there have been some good titles for solo players in the past, including The Elder Scrolls Online or Guild Wars 2. In WoW, too, it has become easier and easier over time to do without a guild through content like the Dungeon Finder.

What about the MMORPG in general? Although the game was officially announced back in December 2020, as of this writing we know almost nothing about the LoL MMORPG.

The only things that are certain are:

  • The dungeons and raids are a focus of the game
  • There will be healers and tanks, because according to Ghostcrawler they are said to be difficult to balance
  • If there are different races, then without race bonuses, but purely as cosmetic adjustments
  • There will be PvP content
  • The content of the MMORPG should not please every player

That’s very manageable, especially considering how much the MMORPG is expected by many fans. Because the game from Riot Games is considered a great hope for many, since New World has been the only major MMORPG to appear in the West since 2014.

At the moment it looks like we’ll have to wait a few more years for the release.
