Apple Music has 78 million paid users!
In the eternal battle between Spotify and Apple Music, the former can still say that it has the most important advantage over those with the bitten apple. According to a recent report shared by MIDiA Research, Apple Music is the second most used music platform, is still far behind Spotify.
The data corresponds to the global figures for the music streaming services market during the second quarter of 2021, when the global music subscriber base reached 523.9 million subscribers. The figure represents an increase of 109.5 million users (26.4%) compared to the previous year.

For the second quarter of 2021 the subscriptions of Apple Music represented 15% of subscriptions to global music platforms, surpassing the 78 million paid subscribers. While Spotify ranked first in the world ranking with 160 million subscribers. Nothing more and nothing less than double what Apple Music had.
In its MIDiA report it explains that although the total number of subscribers to the music streaming service has grown in 2021, this does not imply that the revenues of the companies are significantly higher. This is because some subscribers pay less due to family plans, special packages, such as Apple One, or similar plans on other services.
Although Spotify’s market share fell from 33% in 2020 and now to 31% in 2021, there is no risk that Spotify will lose its leading position for a long time.
On the list, Amazon Music ranks behind Apple Music with a 13% market share, but MIDiA Research notes that YouTube Music is the fastest service growth for the second year in a row, now with an 8% market share, driven by Gen Z audiences and younger Millennials.
