If you buy Activision Blizzard for 70 billion US dollars, you can probably eat away at a fast food chain, right? Okay, no: Of course Microsoft isn’t serious about buying McDonalds – at least not that we know of. But where big things happen, along with the worries and hopes, memes are rarely far away, and that’s what this is all about.

Funny tweets between Microsoft and McDonalds

It’s all about this: Everywhere we look, the Activision Blizzard deal is making waves. You have questions, we have questions, McDonalds has questions… Wait a minute, McDonalds? Yes, an unexpected conversation just took place on Twitter between the burger giant’s account and Xbox’s.

It all started with a typical marketing tweet on the McDonalds profile. A picture of a box of fries was posted with the prompt:

Replies with [greifendes Daumen- und Zeigefinger-Emote]to steal a fry.

The Xbox account responded to this request and accessed the appropriate emote as requested. To which the McDonalds account responded with an image of a white Xbox Series controller that contained a McDonalds button instead of an Xbox button. Y, B, A, and X have also been replaced with chip grabber hands that point in different directions.

Xbox answered that with its own picture. This showed the same controller model, but in McDonalds red and next to it – well, let’s say “chips box” – an Xbox console with fries sticking out of it. McDonald’s question:

Are you trying to buy me too?

Maybe Microsoft saw the tweet with the kebab projection from colleague Dennis and got hungry for fast food investments:

The community already has ideas as to what could be done with this fictitious takeover. For example, WILL.I.AM suggests:

McDonalds free for Game Pass subscribers?

More on the Activision Blizzard deal:

Another person suggests there could be a time-limited Game Pass as a freebie on McDonald’s menus. Or how about adding Halo to the Happy Meal in the future? Or a Master Chief collectible figure? Okay, of course, the likelihood of that ever happening is close to zero, but in any case, the companies’ social media teams have a good sense of humor and keep us entertained.
