Battlefield 2042 could become Free2Play, says a well-known insider

According to an insider, Battlefield 2042 has all options on the table – including Free2Play.

Battlefield 2042 could have gone better: The shooter from DICE and EA came onto the market in a technically unsatisfactory state, the number of players doesn’t look particularly outstanding and new content is a long time coming. That seems to disappoint publisher Electronic Arts, according to insider Tom Henderson. Apparently they had hoped for more and are now thinking about ways of improving the situation. Switching to Free2Play should also be an option.

How realistic is a Free2Play model? Tom Henderson is actually considered to be well connected and informed. The fact that EA is looking at all options seems very plausible and quite likely at first. Whether Battlefield 2042 will actually be Free2Play cannot be said with certainty at the moment. However, the possibility is definitely conceivable and it would not be the first paid shooter to make this change. PUBG, for example, did this recently.
