Dying Light 2 has almost as many lines of dialogue as the RPG giant Skyrim

In Dying Light 2 there is not only fighting and running, but also talking - a lot of talking.
In Dying Light 2 there is not only fighting and running, but also talking – a lot of talking.

Dying Light 2 puts a big focus on its RPG aspects. We can join different factions, play them off against each other and make countless decisions. But of course we have to talk to the corresponding characters first. And that’s exactly what developer studio Techland seems to have focused on.

Techland promises more than 40,000 lines of dialogue for Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 is just around the corner and is apparently supposed to be a game of superlatives. It was only recently announced by the developers that we around 500 hours need if we really want to see, experience and hear everything in the game. The playing time for the main quest is significantly less, but if you want, you can spend a lot of time in the zombie action RPG. In addition, Dying Light 2 will be supported and expanded for many years to come.

350,000 words: With all the scope, many lines of dialogue also come together: In a new tweet, the team behind the upcoming zombie game reveals that over 350,000 words are said to be spoken in the entire game’s dialogue. They are spread over 40,000 lines.

For a better comparison, Dying Light 2-Studio Techland provides an example: Lew Tolstoy’s novel “Anna Karenina” also contains 350,000 words – a real mammoth work.

Almost as much dialogue as in Skyrim

WCCFTech put these numbers in relation to video games. This is especially helpful for those who are less familiar with Anna Karenina and more into RPGs and other games.

Like the big role-playing hit, for example The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which has a total of 47,000 lines of dialogue. or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is at 30,000. Games like Mass Effect 3 and Fallout 3 are about the same size as Dying Light 2. They are also said to have around 40,000 lines of dialogue.

However, quantity does not automatically mean quality. In the following trailer you can get a small impression of how well the dialogue lines were implemented by the English speakers:

When is Dying Light 2 coming? Originally, Dying Light 2 should have been released long ago. But then the title was postponed and now it is finally scheduled for release on February 4, 2022. At least for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. Dying Light 2 will also be released for the Nintendo Switch, but only as a cloud version and it will be delayed: The release should now take place “within six months of the original date”.
