Hearthstone: New patch annoys villains in the ground

A new patch from Hearthstone is going live soon. The nerfs are clear – rogues and warriors are drastically weakened.

A major patch is pending in Blizzard’s digital card game Hearthstone. Update 22.2 aims to get the balance back under control while also bringing some interesting new features to the battlefield mode. For most players, the core should be the nerfs, which were long overdue.

What’s going on at Hearthstone right now? Villains in Hearthstone have just seized power. They’re feared along with Mage due to some powerful combos, causing many players to give up early as there’s no stopping the two decks anyway. Blizzard has probably seen that and weakens some of the most dominant cards.

What nerfs are there? The nerfs target the currently most successful decks. This is especially true for rogues, who currently dominate almost every rank. But warriors, who tend to win in the lower ranking, are also weakened, as are particularly efficient combo mages.

The hero card Schattenformer Schnipps will be more expensive and will cost 8 mana instead of the previous 7 mana. This makes him playable later and should delay the villain’s victory a bit.

The Wildpaw Gnoll will also be nerfed. Not only does his mana cost increase from 5 mana to 6 mana, but his stats are reduced from 4/5 to 3/5. In future, it will appear later and have less impact on the game.

Also nerfed is Cloak of Shadows, a spell that grants the rogue stealth for 1 turn, making them immortal from most attacks. The spell now costs 4 mana instead of 3 mana as before.

Warriors also get a long overdue nerf. The “Distract Them” quest step from the “Storm the Docks” series will be more difficult to complete, as it now requires 3 played pirate minions instead of just 2. This should complete the quest one turn later.

The mage spell flow of the summoner has proven to be too strong when cast early by the mage. Therefore, the mana cost increases from 3 mana to 4 mana.

As usual, in the post-patch period, the nerfed cards can be disenchanted for the full dust cost, so you can easily craft other cards if you wish.

In addition, there are a few adjustments to the “wild” game mode. Sorcerer’s Apprentice is more expensive, now costs 4 mana instead of 2 mana, and Hunter’s Rapid Fire now costs 2 mana, but also deals 2 damage.

What buffs are there? There is only one adjustment to the improvements, which also affects warriors and should ensure that the hero card appears more frequently in the future.

The warrior hero card Rokara the Brave is upgraded. She now grants 10 armor instead of 5 armor, so she’s a bit more resilient and can safely smash into minions with her weapon.

When will the changes go live? The date for the patch is next Tuesday, that is January 25th, 2022. Towards evening the changes will go live and will also bring new content, such as the buddy system in battlefield mode, which should ensure one or the other exciting game with new factors.

What do you think of the adjustments? Are your classes affected by the nerfs? Or are you happy about improvements?
